    Day 2 - Moving from "Best Practices" to "Next Practices"

    When leadership practices good critical thinking and shares a visionary strategic plan, the resilience and sustainability of the firm is improved, the client experience will remain high, and the retention of high performers will improve. 

    Objectives -

    • Provide high-quality facilitated discussion on strategic planning, succession planning and risk management
    • Provide "next practices" for strategic planning and workforce alignment
    • Provide a succession planning structure and a discussion of differing between high potentials and high performers
    • Provide risk management guidance for firms that are examining an AI world
    • Provide advanced methods to help empower the team and keep them engaged

    Goals -

    • Each participant will sharpen their leadership skills and gather tactics that will apply to their organization and individual situation.
    • Partners will interact and solve issues in table groups, building trust and communication channels.  They will gain tactics and build a better understanding of the direction of their individual firms.
    • Partners will develop their "crucial skills" including critical thinking and risk management and gain confidence in their leadership roles.
    • All attendees will learn and discuss "leading edge" of tools and succession strategies that will reinforce their ability to form a  cohesive leadership team
    • After completing the session, each participant will have improved their leadership skills, and retain a high-performing workforce, identify growth opportunities, and build a cohesive culture in their organization.

    Karl Ahlichs

    Senior Consultant, ExpertSpeaks

    Karl Ahlrichs is a professional writer, trainer, presenter, and communications coach.  He has developed his facilitation and training skills over several decades.  He has researched, written, and presented complex coursework for multiple industries, and has facilitated challenging meetings with tough audiences.  Karl has a proven understanding of the motivation and psychology that enables behavior change, working with all areas of media and support material that create a good environment for adult learning.   He is one of fewer than 800 speaking professionals who are currently qualified as Certified Speaking Professional (CSP) by the National Speakers Association and is a Virtual Master Presenter.

    • Decades of experience working with the AICPA as a thought leader and instructor in their CPE channel.
    • Direct experience in partner meeting facilitation, both in firm events and managing Partner Conferences.  Over 30 years of content creation and training experience in all industries, with direct experience as a business generalist in HR, Operations and Marketing roles.  He has done HR projects for employers of all sizes and writes HR related content for several journals.
    • Over 20 years of facilitation experience with a wide range of clients, including Apple, Thomson Reuters, Home Depot, Lowes, Roche, Boeing, Marsh & McLennan, and IBM.
    • Proven skills in curriculum design and training development, with work as a staff writer, producer and director of management and sales training materials for a Fortune 100 global manufacturing firm.
    • Solo facilitator for more than 500 multi-day career transition courses, working with audiences from all industries and organizational levels.  Keynote and concurrent presenter at dozens of conferences per year, with audience sizes from 20 to more than 1000.  Have presented at more than 20 SHRM Annual Conferences.
    • Frequent guest lecturer on business issues at Purdue, Butler, and Indiana University.
    •  Current member of the "Thought Leader" team of the Business Learning Institute, providing course development and delivery to multiple clients through the CPA Society of Maryland and the AICPA.

    Connie

    As a veteran executive, Connie has developed strong skills in credible communication rooted in developing healthy results-driven cultures and maximizing achievement. She believes in integrity and taking the high road, eliminating drama, and focusing on inspiring others to courageously reach their maximum potential. Before Connie's retirement in 2021, she served as the President/CEO of Icon Credit Union and later Regional President of Horizon Credit Union. Now she serves as CEO of Credible Advantage, a leadership and board development consulting business. Connie graduated from Boise State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Accountancy and then received her graduate-level certification from Western CUNA Management School. As a published author, Connie shares her insights in her book "Don't Sabotage Your Career," on becoming a top professional and avoiding unintentional mistakes that may hold one's career back and hurt their personal brand. Connie is passionate about building strong leaders and strong cultures in the workplace. She serves on many local boards and committees, including Junior Achievement and the College of Western Idaho Foundation.

    Connie's work has led to a variety of achievements and honors:

    Appointed one of Idaho's CEOs of Influence for her leadership, integrity, vision, diversity, and influence. Icon Credit Union was named the 7th healthiest credit union from more than 5,400 credit unions in the nation and Best Places to Work for many years under Connie's leadership. Awarded the Thanks Badge II, the highest award in Girl Scouting, for her exemplary service to the Girl Scout organization Received the Meridian Chamber of Commerce's Business Person of the Year for 2021 award. Appointed to the Twelfth District of the Federal Reserve Bank Community Financial Depository Institution Advisory Council, serving between 2018-2021.
