Continuing Professional Education (CPE) is required for CPAs to maintain our professional license; however there are numerous other reasons to attend one of our continuing education events. For one, CPE allows you to keep up on current events in our profession. As CPAs, we are continually asked to advise on a wide range of critical issues that have a material impact on our clients. Getting the necessary training that is relevant to your field of interest will help ensure that you are prepared for changes and allow you to maintain competence in the field, providing ongoing value to your clients and businesses.

Working in industry, I find that ISCPA provides many training opportunities to improve non-technical aspects or “soft skills” that are important to personal growth and career progression. There are so many interesting topics that impact our daily lives whether its cybersecurity, generations in the workforce, or stress management. It’s important to invest in learning opportunities so we are ready to advise on these and other emerging topics. Last, but certainly not least, in-person CPE gives all of us a place to build relationships and network, something that will benefit our career currently and in the future.

What should you look for when deciding on CPE?  A vetted, knowledgeable facilitator that is passionate about their topic and willing to share their experience and offer ways to navigate various circumstances, an environment that encourages participants to share their experience and gain new perspectives, flexibility to meet your schedule (virtual options), and of course the highest return on your investment. ISCPA does an incredible job of vetting facilitators to ensure that all the CPE we take through the Society will be a high-quality event facilitated by a knowledgeable and enthusiastic instructor. In addition, the Society guarantees your satisfaction on all their CPE, and as they strictly follow all NASBA rules, their CPE will be accepted by the ISBA. So, if you’re looking to advance your level of knowledge, invest in learning opportunities and expand your professional network, look no further than the ISCPA.
