Presenting our new Website

January 1, 2018

Welcome! It’s been a lot of hard work, but the new Idaho Society of CPAs website is up and looking fantastic, if I don’t say so myself. I want to first say, “Thank You!” to Gwynne Lethcoe, who has been juggling CPE and website design to get this site to fruition.

The site was designed to make your experience simple. On the homepage, notice key items – in CPE, in News and in Spotlight – that we want you to know about. A few highlights to check out include:

MY CPE - Found under My ISCPA in the navigation is one of my favorite pages. Choose Upcoming CPE to see classes that you are registered for and get all the electronic materials here, too, up to 7 days before the event. If you choose CPE Transcript, an ISCPA Member-only benefit, you’ll get your transcript available to print at your leisure. You can also get past year transcripts if you need them.

SEARCH CPE – You can now search by keyword, location or vendor to find the CPE that best fits your needs. Our CPE is categorized into three types: Live classes, Webinars (live classes that you take via your computer) and On-Demand (classes that are recorded and can be watched any time on your computer.)

MY PROFILE – You can update your information any time. Have a new phone number or email? Head to My Profile, also under MY ISCPA, to change anything in your membership information. This is also where you can change your notifications settings. You can choose what email lists you are on, if you’d like to be included in the Find a CPA tool, in the Member Directory and what committees you are volunteering your time to.

Speaking of committees – We have a new opportunity! 2018 is our 100th year – and my first! The annual meeting is June 15 and I would sincerely value any member input to help plan this important celebration. If you’re interested, sign up on the Committees page, found under About Us. Or just email me directly. We will have a meeting mid-January, then meet a few times before the event in June. It’s not a huge commitment, but I think a combination of “veteran” and new members would be ideal. I hope to hear from you. Wouldn’t it be the best problem to have, if too many people were eager to help? That’s my hope!

Mark your calendar: The ISCPA Legislative dinner is Tuesday, January 16, and we’d love you to attend. There is no cost for the event, but there is a $50 fee if you RSVP and don’t show – because it’s an awesome dinner and we pay for every plate! The event is listed on the homepage – or search Legislative Dinner.

On a side note, I attended the ATI Conference on the December 6 and got some great information! Scott Schiefelbein, with Deloitte’s Washington Tax Policy Division, shared fantastic insight on Federal Tax Reform and how it could affect us. If you couldn’t attend, they have the materials on their website. I would encourage you to check it out if you’re interested in a really good variety of tax information.

As always, I would love to hear from you. Let me know your thoughts, suggestions or ideas. I’ll even buy coffee if you’d like to have a discussion about it! Your input is valuable to me. Hope to hear from you soon.

Laura
