The most notable - and fun - thing to report is that our ISCPA Board of Directors, along with AICPA President and CEO Barry Melancon, participated in a "bounce house" fundraiser that ...

My first AICPA convention is in the books – and it sure was an amazing event. I came to the Idaho Society from the "Association Management" side of our business. Managing, communicating and advocating for people with a common cause is my passion, so my focus now is to learn everything I can about the CPA "world." Being in a room with almost 400 people at AICPA Council, talking about the future of the profession, was invigorating. I couldn't have asked for better education and inspiration.

If you'll notice, our newsletter is a little bit later than usual. We figured there was no reason to send out the newsletter last week if many of you weren't doing anything but taxes - congratulations on surviving October 16! It's now CPE season - so that's my theme.

September is one of my favorite months – not sure if it's because of my birthday, the kids going back to school or the cooler weather – but I love it. Society business is going well. We had committee meetings on CPE and Peer Review, plus a Board Meeting. We have great, active committees and I am really impressed by their level of commitment. If you're wanting to get involved, please email me.

This month has flown by. I continue to be thankful for this opportunity and look forward to getting to know our members better. Please let me know if I can visit your firm/company to meet you and your coworkers. If they are members, I'd like to brainstorm about our Society's future. If they aren't members, I'd like to know their thoughts on ways that would attract them to our organization. I will be traveling to meet CPAs throughout the state as well. So, if you have a group you'd like me to introduce myself to, just let me know! And don't worry - I am thinking it'll take only 30 minutes or so.

I consider myself very lucky. I've found a great new home. As I write this, I've been with ISCPA exactly 3 weeks. It's been a whirlwind, as I am sure you can imagine, but I am enthused and invigorated about my future. ISCPA is a proactive, professional community dedicated to its members and I couldn't be happier to join your team.
