Job Description
Under general supervision, completes complex and technical, routine and non-routine, accounting duties to support the maintenance of the general ledger inventory and cost of sales accounts, specifically with respect to seed inventory for the Grower Solutions locations. Provides customer support that includes problem solving, answering questions, and resolving issues. Reconcile seed purchase activity monthly and at year-end to distribute annual seed rebate payments received from seed vendors. Maintain reconciliation of suspense account(s) used to manage seed rebate activity, and interface with Rebate Accrual group to recognize discounts/rebates related to seed purchases as they are received from vendors. Work with seed vendors and SGS locations as necessary to ensure product receipts are efficiently matched to seed invoices and processed by Shared Services A/P. Reconcile COS ledger activity monthly for assigned SGS locations, make correcting journal entries to the general ledger for amounts not correctly classified, and maintain support documentation to explain COS activity for designated SGS locations. Monitor inventory valuation daily to spot transactions driving large ledger impacts to Cost of Sales. Communicate with SGS locations as appropriate to resolve these issues. Specific projects: As assigned by management or as a result of the business needs and/or tax department. Interfaces with internal and external customers to obtain information and problem solve. Bachelors Degree for accredited university preferably in accounting.

Job Description
Supervise and lead the daily operations and staff of the SGS cost of sales accounting department, including review and approval of all cost of sales and inventory impacts, review and oversight for RNV, and month end closing activities and reporting. Analyze inventory valuation transactions and initiate adjustments to preserve inventory integrity. Build month-end closing processes for recording cost of sales. Assist in performing complex analyses and developing new business processes to support the SGS cost accounting functions. Provide functional guidance to AgriBusiness Group SGS retail locations related to inventory and cost accounting. Assist Corporate Internal Audit department with periodic audits on retail units and develop inventory processes consistent with AgriBusiness policies.

Essential Responsibilities:

•Supervise the daily operations and staff of SGS cost accounting department including the following: Review and approve cost of sales, inventory, and RNV reconciliations, adjustments, and key management reports. Document and communicate cost of sales status to internal and external SGS managers.

•Oversee multi-million dollar annual effort to track prepay inventory purchases: Track product receipts and communicate with all SGS units to resolve issues related to receipts against prepay purchase orders. Track vendor invoices against prepay contract balances and communicate with SGS units and vendors to resolve issues related to invoice application against prepay contracts. Oversee the effort to close prepay contracts with 30+ vendors, working in concert with multiple internal departments.

•Perform business partnering functions with Sales & Marketing, Purchasing, Shared Services, and Accounting/Finance departments, seeking opportunities to improve communication, streamline processes, and assure adherence to sound accounting principles.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university; eight plus years related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Successful candidate must possess knowledge of cost accounting and financial accounting and have proven research, analytical, problem solving skills. Experience with computer systems/applications such as Microsoft Excel, JD Edwards, and Agvance or other integrated ERP systems preferred. Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills required. Prior supervisory experience preferred. CPA, CMA, or MBA is desirable.
